Trevy James is an independent musician, songwriter & producer from San Diego, CA. The son of accomplished reggae keyboardist “Captain Kiy” and carrying the name of one of Southern California’s most beloved Rastafari performers, the late Trevy Felix, he was raised to follow in those footsteps in San Diego’s unique & diverse roots reggae / Rastafari music community.

After emerging from an adolescence of writing & recording music and studying the craft collegiately at Berklee College of Music, he founded Ital Man Music in 2018 as an avenue to independently release & distribute original reggae, hip-hop, and R&B recordings, beginning with the 2018 EP “Ital Warrior,” followed by the 2020 LP “Love In Dread Times.”

Beginning in 2019, Trevy moved away from strictly performing solo and joined the legendary San Diego reggae band Psydecar on keyboards & vocals, becoming the 2nd generation to hold that role. The following year, he helped form the hip-hop/soul 6-piece Heaping Teaspoon.

Trevy is currently one of the most active players in San Diego’s music scene, gigging & touring with the bands Heaping Teaspoon and Psydecar, while continuing to release recordings and videos on the solo side.
