Trevy James is a genre-blurring vocalist, songwriter, and keyboardist whose music fuses reggae, lovers rock, and vintage R&B into a sound that brings love and its complexities to the forefront.
Originally from San Diego. Currently based in Sacramento. His music is grounded in live musicianship and expressive songwriting, drawing from vintage West Coast soul, Jamaican roots reggae, and the lovers rock traditions of Jamaica and the UK.
A Berklee College of Music-trained songwriter and keyboardist, Trevy James has spent nearly a decade building a diverse body of work across reggae, R&B, and soul. On stage, he is known for his distinct presence as a singer and rapper who simultaneously handles keyboard duties.
Since 2020, he has worked extensively as an instrumentalist and collaborator, performing live with a range of bands and solo artists including Psydecar, Heaping Teaspoon, The Impermanent Nature of All Things, Akaycentric, and Kahlil Nash.
His recordings and performances reflect a career shaped by musical exploration, with work featured in publications including CLASH, EARMILK, and Backseat Mafia. His 2025 full-length album, Grey In The Beard, represents a particularly personal chapter of that journey, weaving together themes of love, perseverance, and transformation through the soulful, reggae-rooted sound that defines his work.
“One of the most distinctive new voices in the modern U.S. reggae landscape. A patient, elegant reflection of artistic maturity.”
